Robert A. Shipley is the Founding Partner of Shipley Law Group, Ltd.,an experienced trial lawyer whose practice includes complex construction, commercial, insurance, professional liability, and tort litigation. Over a career spanning nearly five decades, he has maintained an active trial practice representing small and medium sized businesses, and individuals needing legal assistance within the scope of his expertise.

Robert earned his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 1978 after receiving his B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1975. He is licensed in Illinois and admitted before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, including its Trial Bar, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Construction litigation is a significant area of concentration of Robert’s practice. Representing general and trade contractors, design professionals and property owners, Robert provides representation and counseling regarding the full range of construction issues and disputes.

A seasoned trial attorney with extensive litigation, trial and appellate experience, Robert also handles arbitrations and mediations, including frequent appointment as a neutral in construction, consumer and commercial matters, as well as providing expert testimony in business disputes.

Robert holds an AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating™ from Martindale-Hubbell and has been included in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers™ since 2010. He is a Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America. His professional affiliations also include the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Defense Research Institute. Within the Illinois State Bar Association, he is a member of the Construction Law Section Council, Insurance Law Section Council, a past Chairman of the Interdisciplinary Cooperation Committee and a former member of the Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council.
